| For years the textile
industry has been using mechanical yarn tensiometers for
measuring yarn tensions. Such tensiometers produce quite
informative figures of the average yarn tensions, but
because of the indication inertia it is impossible to
check peak values and instantaneous variations. These
mechanical tensiometers pull the running yarn out of its
original path. The deflection caused generates
additional tension which may amount to a considerable
percentage of the indicated value.
Mechanical yarn tensiometers require considerable
free space for measurements to be taken along the
running yarn. This may prevent measurements at desirable
spots. Small yarn tensions ( below a few cN/ponds )
cannot be measured at all, yet just these tensions quite
often play an important part in the processing of
synthetic fibers.
Quick tension changes due to the new high speed
machines, travelers on a ring spinning and twisting
frame, variations in balloon size, ring rail
displacements, yarn tensioners or brakes, the shape of
bobbins, machine drive parts, yarn irregularities etc.,
cannot be measured by a mechanical device. Moreover, a
direct recording of smallest yarn tensions and
short-time peak tensions is not possible.
In order to overcome these difficulties, the
ROTHSCHILD ELECTRONIC - TENSIOMETER R - 2000 was
developed. Most, if not all measurements which
previously could not be carried out, can now be
undertaken. This instrument is of special value in
measuring and recording tensions of standard yarns,
synthetic yarns, elastomer yarns, ribbons, tows, glass
fibers and wires.
Apart from general use in production control, textile
machinery designers and engineers from research and
development laboratories find this instrument with its
multitude of applications an indispensable tool for
their work. By using the ROTHSCHILD ELECTRONIC-TENSIOMETER
considerable improvements to the product quality and
production efficiency can be expected.
MEASURING HEADS
The measuring heads are an integral part of the
instrument with a large choice of tension sizes for many
different applications available. The small dimensions (
Ø 30 mm ) of the measuring heads facilitates
measurements by the ROTHSCHILD ELECTRONIC - TENSIOMETER
at almost any location. The yarn is not deflected from
its path and its tension is not influenced by any
outside forces.
Special measuring heads allow measurements in acid
baths and humid surroundings ( e.g. viscose baths, etc )
and on glass fibers.
MEASURING CHANNELS
- All tensions are recorded analogically and
digitally
- Maximum / Minimum / Average values are continuously
recorded and displayed on the monitor, while resetting
is possible at any moment.
- Optional setting of galvanometer with afterglow to
follow tension variations.
- The ELECTRONIC - TENSIOMETER R - 2000 has two separate
measuring channels.
This feature offers the following:
A ) MONO - measurements from Channel
1 – or – Channel 2 working from Measuring Head MH1 – or
– MH2
B ) DUAL - simultaneous measurement
on separate positions using both channels and the 2
Measuring Heads MH1 and MH2.
MEASURING APPLICATIONS
The application range of the ELECTRONIC - TENSIOMETER
in the textile industry is practically unlimited. It is
now common practice to take measurements on the
following machines:
- Spinning machine
- Winders
- Ring spinning frames
- Twisting machines
- Looms
- Texturizing machines
- Warping machines
- Flat- and circular knitting machines
- Sewing machines e t c.
The list of professionals and production industries
where the ELECTRONIC-TENSIOMETER is an important
instrument to keep up quality, productivity and
product-development, is long and just a few are
mentioned:
- Textile machinery designers
- Synthetic fiber producers
- Spinners
- Twisters
- Texturized yarn producers
- Weaving mills
- Knitting mills
- Tire cord producers
- Glass fiber producers

- Research and scientific development laboratories
- Textile institutes e t c.
Some of the special measuring applications in the
laboratory are as follows:
- Friction coefficient
- Yarn guide properties
- Relaxation and retraction
- Elongation and elasticity e t c.
SPECIAL MEASURING HEADS
Special Measuring Heads are available for
applications with:
- Glass fibers
- Humid and Acid surroundings
- Flat yarns
- Tow
Measuring Heads can be adapted with different lengths
and types of Yarn Guide rollers and yarn guides of
different materials such as graphite etc. |
